A major cause of pollution of our waterways is farm runoff. Phosphates and nitrates used to fertilise pastures, leach or are washed into streams and rivers when it rains or the soil is damp. Worldwide water is becoming a scarce resource. In some Countries people have no option other than drink polluted water. Would you?

Agricultural and Erosion Solutions have developed what we think is a solution to the leaching of excess nutrients, namely Phosphorus and Nitrogen into our rivers and lakes.

We have been trialing a natural substrate that we call Multi-Ag, deposits of which are found in both New Zealand and in the USA. Mult-Ag will adsorb (suck in and release) phosphorus, and absorb (suck in) nitrates, iron and manganese. The New Zealand variety is not as refined as the USA version due to its age and purity. However we have secured the Asian/Pacific distribution rights for the American product. We have had lab tests done on Multi-Ag and the results have been outstanding.

Farmers know that riparian strips are an effective method of filtering runoff. The only downside is that if you winter out a paddock adjacent to a river to livestock it's not always the paddock with the riparian strip, unless of course the entire farms river boundaries are made up of riparian strips. By using our Soil Cells and Multi-Ag excess nutrients can be filtered from ANY paddock simply by moving our modular system downhill from which ever paddock is being wintered out.

We are currently conducting trials in various locations around New Zealand as well as at several overseas locations including Germany, China, Israel and the USA.

In some countries around the World people have to queue up to get fresh drinking water, even then it's in a plastic bottle. What we take for granted here in New Zealand other people think is a luxury. The sad reality is that one day we too might have to stand in line just to get our hands on precious fresh drinking water. 75% of our low lying rivers and streams are already too polluted for it to be safe for their waters to be used for human consumption. And at the moment there is not a lot being done about it.

So what can we do? for a start more effort has to be put into reducing the amount of excess fertiliser and nutrients that are leaching into our waterways. Another major cause of water degradation is sediment infiltration. These issues can be solved by using our simple cost effective methods.

I want my grandchildren to be able to go and catch a fish is that too much to ask?

We are now manufacturing and distributing Multi-Sorb a odour and ethylene gas removing product. Most fruit and vegetables produce ethylene gas as they ripen, by placing a container of Multi-Sorb near the produce the gas will be taken in or adsorbed by the mineral increasing the life of the produce by weeks.
